If we ever had to think of a retreat that is a complete opposite of our day to day life in Bangalore, The Peepal Tree would be it. A regular weekend for us includes trekking and/or running with our Trek. Travel. Adventure community, TrekNomads. This escape to The Peepal Tree in Kabini, came in as a refreshing break for us.
We were invited by Shruti, our host at The Peepal Tree for a short weekend escape from the hustle of the city life.
We drove down to Kabini from Bangalore on a weekend in September, the weather was pleasant and the drive was wonderful. As we arrived at The Peepal Tree, we were all in awe of the peaceful and undisturbed environment. The natural beauty that the place held was just unparalleled.
The minute you enter the homestay you are transported to a more serene world that is void of all the chaos and mayhem of reality. We spent two nights and three days here. Three refreshing days of calm and tranquility, we must say, we could not have chosen a better stay at. Our package included 3 meals every day and we were given one cottage with two rooms.
The boutique homestay is located right on the banks of the Kabini backwaters. The Peepal Tree also has a gorgeous swimming pool overlooking the backwaters. The cottages were something out of a fairy tale, small, beautiful and extremely cozy. The interiors are done up with fine antique furniture. Every cottage comes with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a common living room with a sofa, a dining table and a small kitchen area. The cottages are perfect for a family of 4-5 people.
Our stay was made even more memorable by the very warm and welcoming hosts over at The Peepal Tree. Of the two nights that we stayed there, we also got to witness a short cultural program by the tribes of the area where they demonstrated their folk dance. The adventurers that we are, we could not stop ourselves from dancing to their beats. The entire show was a nice way to showcase the cultural traditions of Kabini. An evening by the backwaters witnessing the traditions of the region was how we spent our first night at The Peepal Tree.
The second day at The Peepal Tree was quite eventful, we went on a nice long boat ride around the homestay. After which we chilled out for a while at the pool.
The food is another thing that makes your stay at The Peepal tree worthwhile. A good variety for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, the food here was very impressive. Leaving our appetite satisfied.
While there are so many other things on their itinerary that we weren’t able to do this time, we will definitely plan another visit soon to experience a lot more of what Kabini has to offer.
Our three day, two night stay at The Peepal Tree was very energising and recommend the homestay for anyone who is looking for a quick getaway to Kabini. This is one escape that YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS.
An idyllic nature’s retreat vacation at the property will surely appeal to your senses. The beautiful backwaters, lush greenery surrounding the homestay, the calm and pleasant weather and the impeccable hospitality is what makes this a wonderful option for a quick weekend getaway.
A huge thank you to the The Peepal Tree team for giving us such an unforgettable experience and the best of times. Kabini now has a very special place our hearts!
